Matthew Botein – Board Member
Matthew is Managing Director and Head of BlackRock Alternative Investors, BlackRock's dedicated alternative investment business including its hedge funds and opportunistic funds, funds of hedge funds, private equity, funds of private equity funds, real estate and real assets. Prior to assuming his current role, Matthew was head of BlackRock's Special Situations Investment Group. He and his team were responsible for building BlackRock's dedicated capability in making significant private equity and corporate venture investments on behalf of clients, working in partnership with colleagues from across our firm. Prior to joining BlackRock in 2009, Matthew was most recently a Managing Director and member of the Management Committee at Highfields Capital Management, a Boston-based private investment partnership. At Highfields, he was responsible for a portfolio of financial services investments, as well as certain other private equity holdings. Previously, he was a member of the private equity department at The Blackstone Group.
Donald Kohn – Board Member
Don is the former vice chairman of the Federal Reserve and served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve Board from 2002 until 2010. He is currently a senior fellow in the Economic Studies Program at the Brookings Institution and prior to taking office as a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, he was an adviser to the Board for Monetary Policy (2001-02), secretary of the Federal Open Market Committee (1987-2002), director of the Division of Monetary Affairs (1987-2001), and deputy staff director for Monetary and Financial Policy (1983-87). He has also served as chairman of the Committee on the Global Financial System (CGFS), a central bank panel that monitors and examines broad issues related to financial markets and systems.
Lawrence “Larry” Summers – Senior Advisor
Dr. Summers is Charles W. Eliot University Professor at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. Prior to that, he was the Director of the National Economic Council for President Obama. He served as the 27th president of Harvard University from July 2001 until June 2006. From 1999 to 2001 he served as the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury following his earlier service as Deputy and Under Secretary of the Treasury and as Chief Economist of the World Bank. Prior to his service in Washington, Dr. Summers was a professor of economics at Harvard and MIT.
Floyd Stoner – Senior Advisor
Mr. Stoner recently retired as the Executive Vice President, Congressional Relations & Public Policy for the American Bankers Association (ABA). Mr. Stoner joined the ABA in 1985 and worked closely with the Community Bankers Council, Agriculture and Rural Bankers Committee, Government Relations Council, State Association Division, BankPac Committee and the representatives of large institutions in the Legislative Liaison Advisory Committee. He earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and received a Postdoctoral Fellowship from Michigan State University.
